Helping Women Understand Their Bodies Through Chinese Medicine

For nearly two decades, I have dedicated my career to Traditional Chinese Medicine and women’s health. My work focuses on helping women with fertility challenges, endometriosis, painful or irregular periods, PCOS, PMS and PMDD, digestive concerns, stress, sleep difficulties, and the many complex symptoms that can accompany hormonal changes throughout a woman’s life.

What I love most about Chinese medicine is that it asks a different question. Rather than looking at each symptom in isolation, we look for the pattern connecting them.

Your menstrual cycle, digestion, sleep, energy, emotions, pain, temperature, tongue, pulse, and overall health all give us information about what may be happening within the body. Treatment is then individualized using the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Why Chinese Herbal Medicine Became So Important to Me

My connection to Chinese herbal medicine is also personal.

During my training, I experienced several health concerns of my own, including anxiety, digestive problems, and menstrual and body pain. I began working closely with one of my teachers, learning how traditional herbal formulas could be carefully selected and modified according to an individual Chinese medicine diagnosis.

The changes I experienced had a profound impact on me.

It changed the way I understood health and ultimately changed the direction of my career. I became fascinated by the depth of classical Chinese herbal medicine and by the idea that symptoms that seem unrelated can sometimes make sense when viewed as part of a larger pattern.

That experience is one of the reasons herbal medicine remains such an important part of my clinical work today.

Building Oasis Women’s Clinic

In 2018, I packed my belongings, left Texas, and drove to Arizona with about $7,000 saved and a very clear goal: to build the kind of Chinese medicine practice I believed women deserved.

Oasis began with a single treatment room in South Scottsdale.

A little more than a year later, the world changed with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the support of an extraordinary community of patients, I continued practicing and gradually built Oasis into the clinic it is today.

Oasis Women’s Clinic is now a five-treatment-room practice in Phoenix devoted primarily to women’s health, fertility, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine.

My Approach to Women’s Health

I believe women should understand what is happening in their bodies.

Too many women spend years being told that painful periods, debilitating PMS, digestive changes, fatigue, or other disruptive symptoms are simply something they have to tolerate.

My role is not only to provide treatment. I want my patients to understand their patterns, recognize what their bodies are communicating, and learn practical ways to support their health between visits.

Treatment may include acupuncture, traditional Chinese herbal medicine, tongue and pulse diagnosis, dietary guidance, lifestyle recommendations, auricular therapy, and other techniques appropriate to the individual.

Chinese medicine has been part of my life for many years, and I continue to be humbled by its depth. Sharing that medicine with women—and helping them feel more knowledgeable and empowered in caring for their bodies—is why I created Oasis Women’s Clinic.
