How long before I see results?
Most patients feel results as immediately as when they receive the acupuncture treatment, while others take up to a few weeks to see results – it all depends on what condition is being treated. Patients generally report feeling calmer, sleeping better, decreased pain, and better digestion after the first treatment.
Do you reuse the needles?
We only use single-use disposable acupuncture needles. After the needles are used, they are disposed in a bio-medical sharps container.
Do I have to take herbs?
Some ailments are better treated with herbal medicine such as chronic conditions, while other acute conditions are alleviated with acupuncture alone. Generally, herbs can help almost every condition. We like the saying “herbs heal from the inside out, while acupuncture heals from the outside in.” A disease or chronic ailment is best treated, when herbs are combined with acupuncture.
Are herbs safe?
Chinese herbal medicine has found favor among some researchers. Studies have revealed that herbal medicines rarely evoke any adverse reactions. In fact, they are clearly much safer than the vast majority of most pharmaceutical drugs. Therefore, modern and traditional herbal formulas are now available commercially for those trained to prescribe them. If you would like to check out the purity of our herbs click here.
What is a treatment like?
The initial treatment is a 90 minute session where the practitioner intakes a patient’s history and vitals, counsels on treatment strategies, explains acupuncture and Chinese Medicine theory to you, and includes tongue and pulse diagnosis. Please wear loose fitting clothing so that the acupuncturist can place the needles on arm and leg points as needed. Once an acupuncture needle has been inserted, patients lie comfortable for about 30 minutes. The extent of the pain a patient might feel from a needle is similar to the pinch of an insect bite, if they feel pain at all. Patients often express that acupuncture is quite pleasurable and relaxing.
How often do I need to see my acupuncturist?
Since Traditional Chinese Medicine tailors treatments individualized to each client, follow-up visits vary from patient to patient. Depending on the condition treated, patients can expect to make follow up visits as frequent as twice a week to as infrequent as once a month. Fertility patients come in once a week while body pain patients generally come twice a week. If you are looking for general stress relief, allergy cessation, help with migraines, or digestive issues treatment plans will be set at the initial consultation.
